Marca: Miami is considering renewing contract with Messi for at least three years, and he can play longer at that time

According to Spanish "Marca", negotiations on renewal between Messi and Miami International are progressing smoothly, and the club is considering providing Messi with a contract of at least three years.

The contract renewal is currently underway (no documents have been signed yet), and the intentions of both parties have been clear. Messi hopes to continue playing in Miami to compete for the team’s championship, and to stay in shape for the 2026 World Cup. This will be Messi's sixth World Cup journey, which will set an unprecedented record in football history (8 players have participated in five World Cups, including Ronaldo).

Miami International is considering providing Messi with a contract of at least three years (by 2028), and the contract may be longer if Messi is willing to continue playing after he is 41 years old.

Importantly, both parties want to continue to cooperate, and it has nothing to do with the contract length. Messi can play until he wants to finish and then play other roles in the club.

As signed in Messi's initial contract, Messi is also a shareholder of Miami International, one of the owners of the club. The contract will be long-term and may even take flexible ways to allow him to extend or shorten his career.
