According to German journalists Falke and Tobi Altschäffl revealed in the "Bild" podcast Bayern Insider, Bayern once wanted to sign Dutch attacker Harvey Simons, but was vetoed by Hoeness.

Bayern had already conducted in-depth negotiations with Simmons. Eberl, Freund and Kompany all wanted Simmons very much. The contract had basically been reached, and all the details had been discussed. However, the supervisory board finally rejected the transfer, especially Hoeness. He clearly opposed the deal and finally decided to only consider a loan. Simmons' transfer completely fell through, and the player finally joined Tottenham for 65 million euros.

As the transfer window closes, Bayern has to rent Jackson from Chelsea as an emergency plan. Reporters revealed that Bayern's supervisory board rejected the Simons deal mainly out of economic prudence. After signing Dias and renewing Musiala, Kimmich and Alphonso Davis, the club did not want to take on new financial risks.
