UEFA official: postponing ownership assessment of Lyon and Crystal Palace, if Lyon is relegated, he will miss the European war

Football

According to the official website of UEFA, the UEFA Club Financial Control Agency (CFCB) has made a decision on cases involving multiple club ownership.

Previously, the First CFCB Chamber 1 had initiated investigation procedures for the following clubs:

- Drogeda United (Ireland) and Sirkeburg IF (Denmark)

- Giori ETO FC (Hungary) and DAC 1904 Dunaiscastrodar (Slovakia)

- Lyon (France) and Crystal Palace (England)

These investigations were due to the possibility that these clubs had violated the provisions of multiple club ownership in Article 5 of the UEFA Club Match Rules. After evaluating the documents submitted by each club, the First CFCB Chamber 1 determined Giori ETO FC and DAC 1904 Dunaiscastro radar violated the multi-club ownership provisions in Article 5.01 of the UEFA Club Match Rules on the relevant assessment date (1 March 2025). Therefore, in accordance with Rule 5.02 of the UEFA Club Match Rules, the First CFCB Chamber 1 decided:

- Accept Giori ETO FC for the 2025/26 Euro Cup

- Reject DAC 1904 Dunaiscastrodar for the 2025/26 Euro Cup

Before this, the First CFCB Chamber 1 had made a decision on cases involving Drogheda United and Sirkeburg IF:

- Accept Sirkeburg IF for the 2025/26 Euro Cup

- Reject Drogheda United for the 2025/26 Euro Cup

In addition, the First CFCB Chamber 1 decided to postpone the assessment of multiple club ownership cases involving Lyon and Crystal Palace. This delay is related to Lyon's compliance with the settlement agreement reached with the First Chamber of the CFCB. Under the agreement, if the French authorities (DNCG) confirm that Lyon is relegated to the Ligue 2 League, the club will be excluded from the UEFA club match in the 2025/26 season. Further details on this multi-club ownership case and settlement agreement will be released in due course.
