FIFA announced the violations of seven naturalized players in Malaysia, confirming that the grandparents of these seven players were not born in Malaysia, and the seven naturalized players were banned for 12 months.

These include Alaves' central defender and 26-year-old Facundo Garces. Garces was born in Argentina and officially joined Alaves in January this year and signed the contract until 2028. Garces started all the first six rounds of La Liga this season. For the national team, Garces won Malaysian citizenship in June and has since played 2 games for Malaysia, one Asian qualifiers (versus Vietnam) and one friendly match (versus Singapore).

According to FIFA investigation, Garces' grandfather was from San Fidelity in Argentina, not Malaysia, and was suspended for 12 months.
