Tatum: A rupture of the Achilles tendon is like a gunshot I keep shouting that this cannot happen to me

Recently, Celtic forward Tatum accepted an exclusive interview with People Magazine to review his Achilles tendon when it ruptured. Excerpts are as follows:

"This is a long journey and I am gradually recovering. This is the most effort I have put in my life," Tatum said.

Tatum's bumpy experience began in May, when he seemed to have made only a slight mistake in the fourth game against the Knicks in the Eastern Conference semi-finals.

After passing the ball to his teammate, Tatum rushed forward—he said he had done such an action “thousands of times”—and then fell to the ground in pain.

"That sound was like a gunshot. It was like I heard that sound with my headphones. It was the loudest sound I've ever heard," Tatum recalled, adding that he still couldn't watch the replay of that moment ("It was so touching. That day was very sad."). When he fell to the ground, "I just kept shouting 'No, no, it couldn't happen to me.' I rolled on the ground and slapped the ground because I knew what had just happened."
