Tyron Lue: Overuse of Harden last season was a last resort, which was to win when the card was missing

Today, Clippers head coach Tyron Lu was interviewed by reporters after the team's training.

Speaking of reducing Harden's workload for the Clippers in the new season, Lu said: "We don't want that. Yes, we don't want that either (last season that way). I think we had to do that (then) and to win successfully and stay competitive with the little card away, he (Harden) had to take too much. So, we don't want him to be like this all season. Of course there will be some games that require him to do that, but in the last 25 games last season, when the little card returns, We ranked second in offense and first in defense. When everyone is healthy and everything goes well, we can score. Therefore, we don’t want Harden to do everything every night like last season.”

In the 2024-25 season, Harden played 79 games, averaging 35.3 minutes per game, averaging 22.8 points, 5.8 rebounds, 8.7 assists and 1.5 steals per game, with three shooting percentages being 41%/35.2%/87.4%.
