MiTi: The number of viewers in Serie A hits a 30-year high, and TV ratings rise simultaneously

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, although there have been frequent claims that Serie A has declined in appeal in recent years, data shows that Serie A still maintains its unique charm.

In the first 11 rounds of Serie A this season, more than 3.5 million fans watched the games live, an increase of 1.5% over the previous season. There are an average of 31,357 live spectators per Serie A game, which is the first time since the 1999-2000 Serie A season that the number has exceeded the 30,000 mark.

Milan, Roma, Naples and Lazio are the five Serie A teams with the most spectators. AC Milan tops the list with an average of 72,916 spectators per game, followed by Inter Milan, with an average of 70,814 spectators. Roma's average attendance was 62,871, while Lazio's was 45,921. Naples ranked fifth with 51,402 people, and Juventus ranked sixth with 41,089 people. In comparison, Pisa had the lowest number of spectators, only 11,046.

From the perspective of attendance rate, Juventus ranks first with an attendance rate of 99.01%, and a total of 9 Serie A teams have an attendance rate of more than 90%. Looking abroad, the average number of viewers in the Premier League and Bundesliga reached 41,880 and 41,801 respectively, which is higher than Serie A. However, Serie A still has higher viewership than La Liga and Ligue 1. It is worth noting that 4 teams in Germany can achieve 100% attendance in every game: Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Hamburg and Cologne.

In terms of TV ratings, the total number of viewers for the first 11 rounds of Serie A on the DAZN platform reached 61,845,542, an increase of about 19% from the 2024-25 season and the same as the 2022-23 season.

The number of viewers of the 10th round of Serie A reached 7.6 million, breaking the previous record. In addition, Sky Sports' Serie A match between Roma and Inter Milan attracted 1.1 million viewers, becoming the most popular Serie A match since the 2021-22 season.
