According to The Athletic Barcelona reporter Pol Ballus, no one from Barcelona was involved in Messi’s night visit to Camp Nou and had no knowledge of it.

After the first round of the MLS playoffs, Messi flew to Spain. This trip was not only to check out the reconstruction process of Camp Nou, but also to join the Argentine national team. This week, they will train in the southeastern Spanish port city of Alicante and go to Angola on Friday to participate in a friendly match.

However, Messi did not go straight to his destination, but chose to stay briefly in Barcelona. Since his dramatic departure four years ago, Messi has returned to the city many times to attend social events and see old friends, but in the eyes of many Barcelona fans, the two sides never had the chance to say a proper goodbye.

Messi posted photos of his night visit to Camp Nou on social media this time, which surprised everyone at the Barcelona club. No one knew he was back there. Despite this, Barcelona later released a statement to the media, saying that they learned that Limak, the Turkish construction company responsible for the renovation work, obtained the club's approval to allow Messi to enter the stadium.

It is unclear who allowed Messi to enter the stadium, especially on a Sunday night when there was no construction, but all indications are that no one within the Barcelona club was involved. Sources close to Messi revealed that the visit was very hasty and the stay here was mainly due to Messi's love for the club and he wanted to see what Camp Nou looks like now.

But why now? A reasonable guess is that there happened to be such an opportunity: flying to Barcelona and then to Alicante, maybe everything went smoothly and it was a spur-of-the-moment decision. On social media, Messi also wrote: "I hope to come back one day, not just say goodbye as a player." People can't help but speculate that Messi may hope to turn a new page in his relationship with Barcelona.

This inevitably makes people think that Barcelona Club will hold a presidential election in the first half of next year, and Laporta is likely to be re-elected. However, sources close to Messi deny that he intends to intervene in Barcelona's election, but the timing and tone of his speech seem to have a special meaning-this is not good for Laporta, but beneficial to competitors.
